How to Find the Best Sunscreen for Your Skin Type

Does sunscreen cause acne? It’s all about finding the right SPF for your skin type.

To be clear, sunscreen itself does not cause acne. Some people (especially those with sensitive or acne-prone skin) may break out due to a reaction caused by the sun or the specific sunscreen used—which could look like acne. On darker skin tones, this can manifest in itchiness, stinging, or raised bumps.

With this in mind, the team and I were especially mindful when creating SPFs for the line. Each formula can be used by all skin types (and of course: every KINLÒ sunscreen is uniquely made for melanin-rich skin), but here’s a quick breakdown of how to choose the best one for your skin type:

OILY, ACTIVE, OR ACNE-PRONE?

Go for Golden Rays Sunscreen SPF 50+.

It’s non-comedogenic and lightly mattifies without clogging pores.

COMBO SKIN & ALWAYS ON THE GO?

Keep Sunscreen Stick SPF 30 on hand.

It’s infused with lightweight plant oils that moisturize and visibly smooth.

COMBO, DRY, OR DULL?

Use Always Golden Daily Moisturizer SPF 40.

It’s a super-hydrating, silky sunscreen that doubles as your everyday moisturizer.

SUPER DRY OR AGING SKIN?

Layer any mineral sunscreen with Hydrating Facial Oil.

It’s my favorite way to customize your moisturization: add more drops anytime your skin feels parched and needs extra hydration.
